Here is a rowing boat that was made for speed. The design, with some modifications, incorporates the lines of a modern competition racing shell. The boat's sleek lines create the feeling of being in a conventional racing shell even when in sea conditions. Seashell 2xC has a sharp "V" entry at bow immediately rounding down to a flat bottom by mid-section through to stern providing high initial stability, buoyancy and rapid attainment of hull speed. The narrow beam lessens disturbance in short mildly choppy irregular sea conditions. The higher bow and lower stern balance each other in a crosswind. These characteristics, including its efficient water length, make Seashell 2xC a fast and stable boat even for the beginner.
Molded skag beginning at mid-section extending to stern, optional foot operated rudder and efficient water length provide excellent directional stability. Molded twin keels add additional stability and make for easy beaching.
The generally low profile, especially in the stern, means less windage and less shakiness caused by passing waves making this boat suitable for flat to mildly choppy waters.
Molded splash guard and low volume of cockpit with true 100% interior self-bailing system (entry of water discharges via a bailing ducts system by the forward movement of the boat) provides a safer and dryer ride. Seashell 2xC constructed with two airtight compartments, rendering the hull unsinkable, meets coastguard safety standards.
Electrolyzed aluminum rail and sliding seat mechanism are easily assembled without the use of tools. The durable, salt water resistant, epoxy coated, aluminum alloy and 316 stainless steel oar riggings fold into the hull for convenience in carrying and storage.
Large 10" (25cm) diameter bow hatch with watertight cam handle covers provide enough storage for day excursions. Straps to hold life vests add additional convenience for safety. The cockpit features built-in water bottle holders for quick access and comfort. Bow and stern carrying handles make for easy carrying and beaching.
